Mother worried about the effect of Jackhammers on her unborn child.

jackhammer

The think that annoyed me most about this image (other than the cigarette in the womans hand is the paper’s inability to mention the fact hat this woman is obviously a pretty crappy parent. Smoking with a baby is one of the worst ideas ever. Aside from the fact that you can damage just about every growth process the baby goes through plus the fact that you look (just like this woman) like an absolute tool.

It’s normally the sort of thing I’d find quite funny, the fantastic irony and stupidity shown here just makes me wonder how bad this poor little kid’s life is going to be.

..so “Mellisa Williamson” of Bullitt Avenue consider yourself named and shamed.

Smokeless Cigarettes Still Make you Smell Like an ass on Fire

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Anyone who’s ever gone out with anyone who smokes knows all too well about the smell. Smokeless cigarettes are supposed to be the next big thing, they are supposedly a little bit better for you (no tar in these bad boys).

But now matter how much they say they don’t smell, the fact of the matter is that they do.

So with that in mind, i’d like to dispel a couple of other myths:

  1. no second hand smoke. Rubbish. If you happen to be in the same room as someone using these you will be breathing in nicotene.
  2. Odorless. Rubbish. All the ones I have seen used smell like rotting badger meat.
  3. Healthy. Rubbish. Although there is no tar or other carcinogens other than nicotine, they cirtainly aren’t healthy or good for you. nicotine is a poison.

2 Months Smoke Free..

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

So aside from the odd hiccup, I’m now pretty much smoke free. It’s been roughly a couple of months since I gave up.

I’d like to say I haven’t had a smoke since, but there have been the odd days where I’d been drinking, or bored, or depressed where  I have just needed to crash a smoke off my housemate.. But I figure that doesn’t really count.

It’s sad when I think that I’ll never quite give up my addition. I’ve been smoking for about 10 years now.. ever since I was a kid really. Even while writing this I would kill for a smoke. I can’t help but wonder if that feeling will ever completely stop.

..at least I’m over the coughing fits now though.
